Labor Unions Withdraw Petition for Expansion of OSHA Covid Rule

A group of labor unions is withdrawing a federal court petition that sought to expand OSHA’s Covid-19 emergency temporary standard for health-care workers to cover other industries where employees are vulnerable to Covid infections.

The AFL-CIO and United Food and Commercial Workers joined with the Department of Labor Tuesday to request the case be dismissed by the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

The unions filed the petition June 24, 2021, three days after the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s emergency standard took effect.
