Keep Tyson Virus Death Case in Iowa Court, States Ask 8th Cir.

Attorneys general from 18 states and the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Department of Justice, are asking the Eighth Circuit to keep a lawsuit against Tyson Foods Inc. over a Covid-19 outbreak at an Iowa meatpacking plant in state court.

Removing the case to federal court stymies states’ efforts to protect the health and safety of residents and undercuts efforts to enforce their own laws, the governments argued in friend-of-the-court briefs filed Tuesday at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
