Illinois Contractor Cited Again by OSHA for Worker Fall Exposure

An Illinois roofing contractor has been cited for three willful and four serious violations and proposed penalties of $278,452 for exposing workers to fall hazards, according to the Labor Department Thursday.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspectors found that employees of Elmer Miller, operating as Miller Building Systems LLC, were standing, climbing, and walking on roofs, beam, and top plates without any protection.

Specifically, the OSHA cited the company for lack of of fall protection and failure to provide a means of egress from the roof. The agency currently has five other inspections with Elmer Miller that were opened ...
