Exxon Refinery Explosion Draws Lawsuit From Texas County (2)

Exxon Mobil Chemical Co. now faces a lawsuit from the Texas county that hosts the company’s Baytown refinery that exploded July 31.

The fire at the Olefins Plant released unauthorized emissions of propylene, LPG, propane, and other combustion products, violating several provisions of the Texas Clean Air Act as well as the state water code, Harris County said in its lawsuit, filed Aug. 1. The county wants the court to force Exxon to act.
