Georgia Grain Bin Facility Fined $127,400 Following Worker Entrapment in Soybeans

A Georgia grain storage facility faces a proposed $127,400 fine following an investigation into how a worker was entrapped in soybeans while trying to clear an auger jam in the silo, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced Aug. 14.

Greg Sikes Farm LLC in Brooklet was inspected on Feb. 14 following the accident, from which the worker was rescued. Sikes Farm was charged with two willful violations, each with a $49,000 fine, and six serious violations, each carrying a $4,900 fine.
