Loren Sweatt, a longtime top policy adviser to House Republicans on workforce safety, has been named deputy assistant secretary at the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
In her new role, Sweatt becomes the de facto head of the agency as the Trump administration has yet to confirm or nominate a new OSHA chief. Her position does not require Senate confirmation.
