Cirque du Soleil won’t face federal safety citations following a performer’s deadly fall earlier this year, although OSHA has declined to comment further on its now-finished investigation.
Ending the six month investigation without issuing a citation shows how the Occupational Safety and Health Administration wrestles with accidents in the entertainment industry, safety lawyers said.
An incident with a fatality would typically result in some kind of citation because OSHA wants to ensure the hazards that led to the accident are addressed, Beth Rothenberg, an attorney at Holland & Knight in Jacksonville, Fla., told Bloomberg Environment Sept. 11.
