BCP Ingredients Faces $300,000 in Fines for Safety Violations

BCP Ingredients Inc. faces $300,759 in penalties after OSHA cited the Verona, Mo., nutrition production plant for 24 serious safety and health violations related to allegations of worker exposure to toxic substances, combustible dust, and moving machinery parts, according to a news release.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited the Balchem Corp. subsidiary for violations, including allegedly exposing workers to amputations due to lack of adequate machine guarding and hazardous energy control procedures, a process commonly known as lockout/tagout.
