Auto-Parts Maker Joon Must Pay $1.5 Million in Worker Death

Alabama auto parts maker Joon LLC, also known as Ajin USA, was ordered in federal criminal court to pay a $500,000 fine and $1 million to the estate of a worker who died after she was caught in machinery.

The fine set Monday was the maximum allowed for a criminal willful violation of a federal safety rule involving a death.

The company was also ordered to serve three years on probation, during which it will face close monitoring for compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements.
