Auto Parts Factory Inspections Program Gets Extension From OSHA

Auto parts manufacturers in the Southeastern US will continue to be the focus of increased scrutiny by OSHA.

A four-year renewal of the inspection emphasis program was announced Tuesday by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Inspections under the extension could begin in late March, following notification and outreach efforts to employers, the agency said.

In justifying the renewal, OSHA said that from fiscal year 2014 through fiscal year 2022, OSHA conducted 299 inspections that led to citations for 793 violations, including 53 willful and 24 repeat. About 54% of the violations were for failure to protect workers from moving ...
