Amazon’s New Safety Exec Will Be Exiting Safety Commission Chair

The head of the federal commission that reviews appeals of OSHA citations is leaving the post today and heading West for now to become Amazon.com Inc.’s vice president of worldwide employee health and safety. She starts April 1.

“I’m excited about it. It wasn’t an opportunity that I was seeking and I actually turned it down the first time it was presented to me,” Heather MacDougall, chair of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, told Bloomberg Law.

“The more I thought about it, it seemed like this incredible, unique opportunity that I had to really consider,” MacDougall said.
