Amazon 2022 Injury Rate Dip Is Still Above Warehouse Average (1)

While the injury and illness rates at Amazon.com Inc. declined in 2022, the online retailer continues to have a higher rate than other warehousing companies, according to a union-sponsored analysis of data Amazon and other companies released to OSHA.

The company’s 2022 recordable injury and illness rate was 6.95 cases per 100 full-time equivalent workers, down about 12% from 7.86 in 2021, the Strategic Organizing Center report said.

Since the Occupational Safety and Health Administration began requiring large employers to submit injury and illness numbers in 2016, the highest Amazon rate was 9.0 in 2019, said the center, a coalition ...
