A Selma, Ala., brick manufacturer has been cited with 11 serious violations and hit with over $120,000 in proposed penalties after allegedly exposing workers to respiratory hazards, according to the US Department of Labor Tuesday.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration found that Henry Brick Co. Inc. exposed workers to concentrations of crystalline silica beyond the permissible level, did not train workers exposed over that level, and failed to require respirator training, among other violations.
