ADM Faces New Worker Safety Violations Related to Dust Explosion

Archer-Daniels-Midland Co. is again facing federal allegations that the food processing company failed to protect workers from explosive grain dust at its Decatur, Ill., plant.

The latest citations and proposed $324,796 penalty, issued Tuesday, stem from the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s investigation of the April 21 explosion at the plant that hospitalized three workers.

OSHA previously cited ADM for a November 2018 grain dust explosion at the Decatur plant and has an open investigation of a separate explosion Sept. 10 at the same plant that injured eight workers.
