Zimmer, Knee Implant Plaintiffs Finalize Confidential Deal

Zimmer Inc. will execute a confidential settlement that will resolve nearly all pending claims related to its NexGen knee prosthesis.

Plaintiffs alleged the knee implants are prone to premature loosening, causing pain and loss of movement in patients.

Zimmer told the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois that based on the participation of 273 of the 279 eligible state and federal court plaintiffs, it will go ahead with the settlement.

Attorneys for the plaintiffs and Zimmer told Bloomberg Law Feb. 12 they are pleased the litigation has been resolved but couldn’t provide settlement details.
