Younique Mascara $3.25 Million Class Settlement Gets Early Nod

Cosmetics maker Younique LLC and consumers won tentative approval from a California federal district court of a $3.25 million class settlement in a suit alleging a “natural” mascara product contained ground-up nylon.

The deal is fair, reasonable, and adequate, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California said.

Meghan Schmitt and others alleged Younique falsely touted its “Moonstruck 3D Fiber Lashes” as consisting of “transplanting gel” and fibers that were “100% natural” and made from “green tea.”

The court certified California, Florida and Ohio classes in January.
