XFL, Vince McMahon Face Rebooted Wrongful Discharge Claims

The XFL and owner Vince McMahon will again face wrongful termination claims by former XFL commissioner and CEO Oliver Luck, the District of Connecticut ruled, citing a bankruptcy court’s lifting of the league’s automatic stay.

Luck alleges his firing on April 9, 2020, two years into a five-year contract, was based on “pretextual and meritless allegations” regarding his performance.

But McMahon asserts that Luck violated the league’s personnel policy by hiring Antonio Callaway despite his suspension from the NFL for substance abuse.
