Xarelto Plaintiffs’ Attorneys Awarded Up to $93 Million in Fees

Plaintiffs’ attorneys in Xarelto litigation were awarded up to $93 million in fees by the federal judge overseeing the multidistrict proceedings for their work in securing a $775 million settlement.

The agreement resolved thousands of suits by plaintiffs who alleged the blood-thinning drug caused uncontrollable bleeding. More than 99% of the eligible plaintiffs have opted in to the settlement, which covered about 25,000 suits.

Drugmakers Bayer AG and Johnson & Johnson unit Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. agreed last year to the $775 million deal, with each company paying half. Further details are confidential.
