World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. asked a Delaware judge Friday to make confidential—and then throw out—an investor lawsuit seeking records to probe whether chairman Vince McMahon is diverting resources as part of his bid to revive the XFL.
McMahon originally founded the XFL in 2001, with the goal of capturing a restless football audience during the National Football League’s offseason. One of its selling points was that it encouraged a rougher play style by dropping many safety rules, especially during punts and kickoffs.
