Walmart Trims Frozen Fish Sustainability Label Deception Claims

Walmart Inc. convinced a federal judge to dismiss some consumer claims alleging it deceptively markets frozen fish products as sustainable despite working with fisheries that use unsustainable practices.

Allegations related to the company’s “multi-channel marketing campaign,” including statements from executives and certain web pages, aren’t actionable because reasonable consumers don’t rely on such information when making purchases, the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois said Monday.
