Walmart, Others Still Face Claims Over ‘Egyptian Cotton’ Sheets

Target Corp., Walmart Stores Inc., and Bed, Bath & Beyond Inc., and textile manufacturer Welspun must continue defending claims that they distributed, marketed, and sold sheets falsely labeled “100% Egyptian cotton.”

Egyptian cotton is considered some of the finest cotton in the world. New York and California plaintiffs brought proposed class suits alleging the supposed luxury linens were really made of cheaper fiber.

The suits were combined in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, which allowed most of the claims to advance.
