VW Leftover Settlement Funds Released for Environmental Projects

Funds remain from Volkswagen AG’s settlement of claims of emissions cheating in Audi diesel vehicles, and they may now be distributed to designated environmental mitigation projects and recipients, a federal court in California ruled.

More than 34,000 class members filed claims, Judge Charles R. Breyer said Monday for the US District Court for the Northern District of California. VW has paid all that are valid, complete, and timely, he said. Breyer oversees the consolidated VW litigation over its diesel software, which has resulted in a number of settlements.
