VTech Toy Hack Claims Valid, Plaintiffs Say

Parents suing VTech after a data breach that compromised personal data of 4.8 million adults and 6.3 million children say their contract-based claims should survive a motion to dismiss (In re VTech Data Breach Litig., N.D. Ill., 15-10889, opposition to motion to dismiss 5/18/16).

VTech is the leading seller of young children’s digital learning toys in the U.S., several would-be class complaints in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois say.

VTech’s products include “kid-friendly” tablet computers that allow children to browse the Internet, communicate with other digital devices and download educational materials.
