UConn Beats Lawsuit By Soccer Player Booted for Obscene Gesture

The University of Connecticut won dismissal of claims by a former member of women’s soccer team who was kicked off the squad and lost her athletic scholarship after she made an obscene gesture that was broadcast live on ESPNU in November 2014.

Noriana Radwan can’t proceed with claims of sex discrimination under Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 because she failed to show there were similarly situated male athletes who were treated differently, the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut said.
