Trader Joe’s Label Settlement Gets Final Court Approval

A class settlement in which Trader Joe’s Co. agreed to pay $3.38 million and stop labeling certain foods as “all natural” gained final approval July 11 in the Northern District of California (Larsen v. Trader Joe’s Co., 2014 BL 193547, N.D. Cal., No. 11-5188).

Judge William H. Orrick of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California approved the settlement. Orrick found the deal fair, reasonable, and adequate, and said various contentions by 18 objectors lacked merit.

Under the settlement, plaintiffs’ attorneys will receive their requested fee of $950,000, or 28 percent of the settlement fund. ...
