Toyota Wins $2.6 Million Award Against Former In-House Attorney

LOS ANGELES—Toyota Motor Corp. Jan. 4 won a $2.6 million arbitration award against a former in-house attorney who had accused the Japanese automaker of conspiring to conceal key evidence in hundreds of rollover lawsuits (Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. v. Biller).

The Jan. 4 ruling resolves a legal battle between the automaker and Dimitrios Biller, a one-time manager of the company’s product liability team that handled rollover litigation, involving his public disclosure of documents he took with him when left Toyota in 2007.
