Toyota Settles Hybrid Owners’ Individual Brake-Defect Claims

Toyota Motor Corp. and more than two dozen Prius, Camry, and Avalon hybrid vehicle owners who sought to represent a nationwide class on claims of a dangerous brake defect have reached a settlement, according to filings in federal court in Texas.

The consumers didn’t ask the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas to approve a class settlement, indicating that they have likely settled only their individual claims. The parties have until April 28 to file all the necessary papers to close the case, Judge Amos L. Mazzant III said Monday for the court.
