Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. misrepresented the range of its popular RAV4 SUV because the gas tank can’t be filled to capacity, a consumer says on behalf of a proposed Illinois class.
Toyota markets its 2019–2020 RAV4 hybrids as having a 14.5-gallon gas tank and a combined fuel efficiency rating of 40 miles per gallon, for a range of 580 miles, Marco Fernandez alleges.
But Fernandez says he runs his tank to nearly empty and can only fill it with about 11 gallons of gas, for a range of 378 to 440 miles.
