Toyota Can’t Shed Allegedly Defective RAV4 Sunroofs Class Claims

Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. failed to convince a federal judge to strike class claims in a lawsuit alleging 2021 Rav4s were equipped with glass sunroofs that shattered under typical driving conditions.

The US District Court for the Eastern District of California on May 3 rejected Toyota’s argument that there were no circumstances under which class claims could survive.

Toyota’s line of RAV4 compact sports utility vehicles is the top-selling non-pickup vehicle in the US, according to US News & World Report.
