Tommy Hilfiger Outlet Has Fake Sales, Suit Alleges

Tommy Hilfiger factory outlet clothes are deceptively marketed with fake comparison prices and “phantom markdowns,” according to a proposed class suit.

The comparison, or “reference,” price is a fictional number meant “to lure customers into believing they are getting a good deal” when they purchase merchandise at the sale price, the suit alleges.

PVH Retail Stores, LLC, whose parent PVH Corp. owns Tommy Hilfiger and other clothing brands, moved the suit to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California June 21.
