Thompson Hancock Must Face Malpractice Suit Over Flooded Edifice

Thompson Hancock Witte & Associates Inc. must face a malpractice suit alleging the firm’s defective design of a multi-story building caused flooding damage during Hurricane Harvey, a Texas appeals court ruled Tuesday.

Brazos Presbyterian Homes Inc. hired the architectural firm when it sought to add a residential tower to Bayou Manor, a senior living community it owns in Houston. It also hired Lendlease Construction Inc. as general contractor, and after problems became apparent it sued that company alleging breach of contract.
