Tesla Black Box Data Needed for N.J. Crash Probe, MetLife Says

MetLife Auto & Home should be granted subpoena power to get vehicle data from Tesla Motors to investigate a New Jersey man’s assertions that he totaled his 2019 Tesla X after his Autopilot system failed, the insurer told a New Jersey court.

Tesla never answered MetLife’s request for event data recorder information, and Autopilot-specific information, related to the September 2020 crash, according to the petition to the New Jersey Superior Court.
