Technicolor SA Escapes RCA Home Theater Projector Class Action

Technicolor SA can exit a class action alleging that RCA brand home theater projectors are falsely marketed with certain brightness ratings, because a federal court in California said it didn’t have jurisdiction over the French company.

Curtis International Ltd. sells consumer electronics under the RCA trademark in the U.S. and Canada through a licensing agreement with Technicolor SA, the French company says. The two companies misleadingly advertised projectors as having a brightness of 2,000 lumens or more, Roman Scanlon claims.
