Talc Supplier Gets $2.9 Million Mesothelioma Judgment Tossed

A talc supplier is off the hook for a $2.9 million judgment on behalf of a woman who died from mesothelioma, after New York’s top court said in a divided opinion there was insufficient evidence linking her use of cosmetic powder to her illness.

Florence Nemeth was diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma, cancer of the abdomen, in 2012. She died from the disease in 2016. Her husband Francis Nemeth sued various companies. He alleged his wife’s use of numerous asbestos-containing products over the course of her lifetime caused her illness.
