More than 30 House and Senate Democrats are pushing the EPA to strengthen regulations for high-risk chemical facilities to better protect nearby communities, workers, and emergency responders.
More than 175 million people in the U.S. live near some 12,000 high-risk chemical facilities that are regulated under inadequate EPA Risk Management Plan requirements, according to a letter from 10 Senate Democrats including Sens. Richard Durbin (Ill.), Tammy Duckworth (Ill.), and Cory Booker (N.J.), and 21 House Democrats.
