SpaceX’s New Starship Booster Bursts Apart in Ground Test (1)

A newly upgraded version of SpaceX’s Starship rocket suffered an apparent failure during a ground test early Friday in South Texas, according to bystander footage of the event.

Video taken of SpaceX’s Starbase facility shows the booster, known as Super Heavy, bursting apart as it was undergoing what the Elon Musk-led company described as gas system pressure testing.

SpaceX provided an update after the failure, noting the booster suffered “an anomaly” during the test and that no one was hurt.
