Southwest Loses Bid for Early Appeal of Consumers’ 737 Max Suit

Southwest Airlines Co. lacks grounds to immediately appeal consumers’ standing to sue it over alleged overcharges for flights on Boeing Co.'s troubled 737 MAX 8 airplanes, a federal court in Texas ruled.

Southwest won on the specific question it wanted to bring to the appeals court, Judge Amos L. Mazzant said Thursday for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

And to the extent it wants to appeal the standing issue it lost, it failed to identify a sufficient reason to do so, Mazzant said.
