Some Claims Against Mazda Axed in Takata Air Bag Suits

Mazda won dismissal of some claims by consumers who allege their cars lost value because they were equipped with Takata air bags containing a deadly propellant (In re Takata Air Bag Prod. Liab. Litig., 2016 BL 191688, S.D. Fla., 15-2599, 6/15/16).

Three would-be class plaintiffs raised some 11 claims against the automaker.

Judge Frederico A. Moreno of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida June 15 tossed claims under California’s consumer laws because the plaintiffs lacked ties to the state.
