Antivirus software developer John McAfee must pay more than $25 million to the estate of a Florida man whom he allegedly ordered murdered in Belize in 2012, a federal court in Florida ruled.
The March 19 award, which included $20 million in punitive damages, stemmed from a wrongful death case brought by the family of Gregory Faull, whom the court said was murdered execution-style at the direction of McAfee.
Faull’s family said in a March 19 statement that they “are comforted that John McAfee’s evil acts have been officially condemned through the power of civil justice.”
