Smucker Pet Food Buyers’ Health Deception Suit Gets Class Status

The J.M. Smucker Co. consumers convinced a federal judge to grant class certification for claims the company misleadingly advertised pet food from three of its brands as healthful despite the fact they contain toxic substances.

Judge William H. Orrick of the US District Court for the Northern District of California on Thursday certified a class of consumers who purchased products from Smucker’s 9Lives, Kibbles ‘n Bits, or Meow Mix brands between November 2018 and Dec. 31, 2022.
