Smith & Wesson Sued Over Illinois Shooting at July 4 Parade (1)

Smith & Wesson Brands Inc. was sued by victims of a mass shooting at a Fourth of July parade north of Chicago who accused the gun maker of marketing its firearms to young men with a propensity for violent behavior.

A slew of lawsuits against the company were filed Wednesday over the attack in Highland Park, Illinois, which left seven dead and 48 injured. It’s the latest effort by victims of such attacks to pursue damages against gun makers, which generally have been protected from liability under federal law.
