Sanofi, Pfizer Suit Alleges Zantac Drugs Caused Bladder Cancer

A Colorado man sued Pfizer Inc., Sanofi US Services Inc., and others, alleging he developed bladder cancer after more than 20 years of taking the popular antacid Zantac.

The drugmakers failed to warn that Zantac, which is chemically known as ranitidine, leads to the production “of staggering amounts” of NDMA, a probable carcinogen, when digested by the human body, the suit in the District of Colorado alleges.

Allan Mark Blake began using prescription Zantac in 1996 and then transitioned to over-the-counter Zantac products. His bladder cancer was diagnosed in 2018, his suit says.
