Some high-end Samsung televisions were knowingly made with defective capacitors that caused the televisions to fail before the end of their expected useful life, according to a proposed class suit filed Dec. 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California (Spatola v. Samsung Electronics America Inc., C.D. Cal., 13-8982).
Anthony Spatola says in this suit against Samsung Electronics America Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (collectively Samsung) that he purchased a 52-inch Samsung LCD television in December 2009 for approximately $2,500.
