Rust-Oleum Hit With Fraud Class Suit Over Wooden Deck Products

Rust-Oleum Corp. faces a fraud-based consumer class complaint in the Northern District of Illinois alleging its “Restore” outdoor wooden deck products are defective, prone to failure, and result in damage to homes and furniture.

Named plaintiff Nancy Cole filed the suit on behalf of purchasers of Rust-Oleum’s acrylic coating products sold under the brand “Restore” and marketed as Rust-Oleum Restore Deck Start Wood Primer, Restore 2X One Coat Solid Stain, and Restore 4X Deck Coat.

Rust-Oleum markets and sells these products to repair and revitalize decking, patios, and other outdoor structures, the suit says.
