RLC Labs Inc. deceptively marketed two recalled generic thyroid medications that didn’t contain enough active ingredient, a new proposed class suit in Florida federal court alleges.
The company’s Nature-Throid and WP Thyroid products were advertised as effective treatments for hypothyroidism—underactive thyroid—Cara Truax alleges in a suit in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
But Food and Drug Administration testing found samples of both products to be subpotent, in some cases containing as little as 87% of the stated amount of active ingredient, the suit says.
