Riddell Football Helmets Tied to Injuries, Student Players Say

Riddell Inc.'s effort to toss concussion claims by high school and college football players should be denied because expert testimony proves each plaintiff slated for one of the litigation’s first test trials suffers brain injuries caused by years of wearing its defective football helmets, a filing in Illinois federal court says.

Riddell and parent company BRG Sports Inc. asked the court in December to dismiss the claims, arguing the plaintiffs’ expert failed to offer any evidence that playing football while wearing a Riddell helmet specifically caused any of the individual bellwether plaintiffs to sustain their particular alleged injuries.
