Riddell Defeats Students’ Football-Warning Concussion Claims

Helmet maker Riddell Inc. and parent company BRG Sports Inc. won dismissal of failure-to-warn concussion claims by seven former high school football players who were the lead plaintiffs in consolidated mass litigation.

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois dismissed the bellwether claims after finding the players’ expert proof inadmissible.

The players “came nowhere close to producing the expert testimony needed to support the bellwether plaintiffs’ claims,” the court said Monday.
