Puritan’s Pride Vitamin Marketing Class Suit Cleared for Trial

Puritan’s Pride Inc. and parent Nature’s Bounty Co. face trial in a California class suit seeking marketing changes to a “buy one get one free” offer for vitamins, after a federal court in the state said the plaintiffs raised a fact question about whether consumers could be fooled by the pricing structure.

Penelope Mueller and others alleged that the promotions were misleading because they didn’t understand that the cost of the “free” products was built into the price of the products they paid for. They said they were tricked into buying products on the basis of illusory savings.
