Puritan’s Pride Avoids Damages Class Over Vitamin Pricing

Consumers alleging they were deceived by a “buy one, get one free” offer for Puritan’s Pride Inc. vitamins may proceed on behalf of a California class in pursuit of a court order for the company to change its practices, but not money, a federal court ruled.

Though the plaintiffs can’t seek actual monetary damages, an “incidental” monetary award may be possible in connection with the case for an injunction, Judge James Donato said Tuesday for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
