Procter & Gamble Escapes Warnings Lawsuit Over Tide Pod Burns

A man who says he got a chemical burn on his foot from undissolved Tide detergent in his sock is unable to maintain his suit, because product maker Procter & Gamble’s instructions and warnings were adequate, a federal court in Indiana ruled.

In particular, warnings on the Tide pod package to call a Poison Control Center and rinse skin with water for 15 minutes if detergent contacts the skin are sufficiently intense to prompt reasonable users to take action, Judge James R. Sweeney II said Wednesday for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
